About the role
The Safety and Quality Officer undertakes clinical governance activities within Metro North Mental Health (MNMH), supporting the implementation of contemporary safety and quality systems and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. The role provides clinical leadership within a defined NSQHS portfolio, including coordination, facilitation, and reporting of quality and safety activities. This role requires autonomous clinical practice within scope, applying sound clinical judgement and decision-making in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and senior clinicians to drive quality improvement and promote safe, evidence-based care.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Practice in accordance with professional codes, standards, and legislation, maintaining contemporary knowledge and competence within scope of role.
- Apply high-level clinical expertise to deliver consumer/person-centred care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Provide clinical expertise, advice, and role modelling to staff in relation to NSQHS Standards, evidence-based practice, and patient safety initiatives.
- Participate in ethical decision-making and ensure accurate, timely clinical documentation and data entry.
- Engage, consult, and negotiate with staff across MNMH to support safety and quality activities and strengthen clinical governance systems, including development and implementation of policies, procedures, guidelines, and pathways.
