About the role
As a Cook within Food Services, you will play a key role in supporting patient health and wellbeing by delivering meals that are both nutritious and tailored to individual dietary needs. Working in a fast-paced hospital environment at The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH), you will contribute to a responsive food service model, preparing meals to order while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and presentation standards are met.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Demonstrated high level cooking skills and a comprehensive understanding of the principles and techniques of cookery.
- Perform a range of routine meal preparation tasks as outlined on daily duty statements and procedures, or as directed by a Supervisor. General kitchen duties include but are not limited to, preparation of meal components, completion of food safety documentation, cooking, quality control, meal presentation and general cleaning as directed, ensuring tasks are performed in accordance with approved procedures.
- Operation of a range of kitchen equipment including ovens, turbochefs, grills, fryers and other equipment.
- Effectively communicate with other members of staff to ensure patient's food preferences and nutritional requirements are met.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic work place in accordance with the Food Safety Management System and other approved procedures and hospital policies. Work safely within the organisations recognised OH&S guidelines, equipment operating instructions and Food Hygiene regulations. Handle, rotate, label and store all products properly and in accordance with established guidelines.
