About your opportunity:

The successful applicant will be responsible for the operational management, leadership, governance and performance of Allied Health Services within the Cairns Hospital (Clinical Measurement, Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Social Work and Speech Pathology Departments), Cassowary Allied Health and Tablelands and Mossman Allied Health.

In this role you will:

  • Provide strategic advice and leadership in relation to the tertiary referral role of Allied Health at the Cairns Hospital for the CHHHS, specifically in relation to the operational component of patient flow and specialist allied health services for rural facilities (eight rural hospitals)
  • Provide high level input and authoritative counsel to the Chief Operating Officer, and other relevant stakeholders regarding the development and implementation of service plans and clinical governance systems at Cairns Hospital, and other rural sites in relation to the provision of Allied Health services.
  • Ensure governance and management systems are in place to effectively manage patient/staff safety, service targets, and organisational risks within Government/QH legislation and policy requirements, including Activity Based Funding (ABF).
  • Lead quality improvement, patient safety and quality improvement processes, ensuring National Safety and Quality Health Care Standards (NSQHCS) are met within the CHHHS.
