As a Finance Officer you will:
- Process accounts payable transactions end-to-end, including vendor creation and maintenance in SAP, preparation of General Purpose Expenditure Vouchers (GPEVs), and processing of purchase order invoices, and corporate card transactions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely payments to small businesses in compliance with relevant legislation, departmental policies, and Program priorities.
- Manage and resolve customer queries by interpreting relevant policies, procedures, and financial information, and escalate complex or high-risk issues to the Manager Finance and Director Finance where required.
- Manage a high volume of transactions by effectively prioritising workload and coordinating tasks to meet deadlines, meeting customer expectations through clear communication and timely resolution of queries.
- Monitor and report on transaction volumes, timeliness, and outstanding issues, while independently managing day-to-day priorities and exercising judgement to escalate matters to appropriate delegates when required.
- Apply and ensure correct use of General Ledger (GL) account codes in compliance with Whole of Government Chart of Accounts guidelines and escalate to the Manager Finance if clarification is required.
- Manage asset creation and disposal processes in accordance with departmental policies and maintain the accuracy of the asset register.
- Support internal and external financial audits by collating, validating, and providing financial records and supporting documentation.
- Develop and implement solutions to automate data entry and integrate data from multiple sources to maintain a centralised, accurate, and fit-for-purpose invoice register that provides reliable information for month-end accruals and supports accurate and timely financial reporting
- Maintain high levels of confidentiality and sensitivity in provision of services and access of financial data.
- Participate in finance team meetings and contribute to the development, review, and continuous improvement of processes and procedures, initiatives and ideas.
- Assist with procedures to maintain compliance with financial management policies, standards, and internal controls.
- Perform other ad hoc duties as required under the direction of the Manager Finance.
