The primary objectives of the GP with Special Interest (GPwSI) model include:
Provide for the needs of patients within the public outpatients’ system referred for the investigation and management of Gastroenterology (GE) and Hepatology medical conditions.
To facilitate holistic patient care by utilising expertise, perspectives, and resources of practitioners from both primary and secondary care.
The applicant will work within a team of specialist clinicians with access to public investigative and management resources.

About the role
- Deliver high-quality outpatient services within the scope of clinical practice granted by the appropriate Medical Credentialing delegate at the hospital(s) in which you perform this work.
- Provide high quality medical care under the supervision and guidance of the consultant medical staff.
- Actively participate in quality activities including patient safety, clinical audit, research, and service planning activities for The Prince Charles Hospital Gastroenterology & Hepatology Specialist Outpatient Department.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Public Service and Metro North values.
- Participate in GE / Hepatology outpatient clinics for the treatment and management of non-urgent GE/Hepatology health conditions.
- Assess patient frailty scores, co-morbidities, and patient preference to determine if progression to a GI endoscopic procedure/s would add value to their care and clinical outcomes.
- Treat both new and review GE/Hepatology outpatients
- Treat patients and their families with courtesy and sympathy and treat all hospital staff and professional colleagues with courtesy and respect.
