About the role

As the Principal Lawyer, you will lead a dedicated team of legal professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion, and innovation. You will provide expert legal advice and minor assistance in family, criminal, and civil law matters, while driving policy and law reform initiatives to improve access to justice. In this role, you will develop and implement innovative service delivery strategies to meet client needs, represent Legal Aid Queensland in internal and external forums, and build strong networks with community and justice system stakeholders. Additionally, you will manage resources effectively, ensuring services are delivered within budget, and support the professional growth and development of your team.

 

About you

We're seeking a leader with:

  • Extensive knowledge of family, criminal, and/or civil law practice and procedure.
  • Proven experience managing legal teams and achieving performance targets.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, including clients with complex needs.
  • A commitment to continuous self-development and maintaining up-to-date legal knowledge.
