About your opportunity: 
 
As a senior supervisor of production, you will play a vital leadership role in supporting large-scale food production operations at Cairns Hospital. You will lead the preparation, production, and presentation of meals to required standards in line with Queensland Health nutritional and food safety requirements, while ensuring high-quality service outcomes for patients and staff.

Working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, you will provide direct supervision to the OO3 chef cohort, coordinate production workflows, liaise closely with the stores supervisor, and collaborate with OO4 senior supervisors to support efficient and effective kitchen operations.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of food services through workforce development, operational improvement, and the implementation of a modern meals-on-demand model and kitchen redevelopment.

About your role:
 
  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation, production, and presentation of nutritionally appropriate meals for patients and staff, ensuring food is delivered to required quality, safety, and presentation standards in accordance with approved menus, recipes, and Queensland Health nutritional requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision, leadership, and operational support to the OO3 Chef cohort and, where required, OO2 Food Services staff, in accordance with Queensland Health Human Resource policies and standards. Actively engage in staff instruction, coaching, training, mentorship, and ongoing workforce development.
  • Liaise with the Stores Supervisor to support effective stock ordering, receiving, utilisation, and inventory management, ensuring continuity of food production and minimising waste.
  • Ensure all meals are produced in accordance with approved recipes, food safety requirements, and embedded Food Safety Plan controls, maintaining compliance with relevant legislative and organisational standards.
