About the work unit / facility

The Townsville University Hospital (TUH) Central Sterilising Department (CSD) is responsible for the decontamination and sterilisation of Reusable Medical Devices utilised in Operating Theatres, Oral Health Services, various wards and hospital departments, as well as for external clients.

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Casual rate: $47.41 to $48.79 p.h. (Nurse Grade 1 Band 2)

About your opportunity

  • Be Responsible for accepting delegated tasks/duties which require basic skills, training and experience.
  • Gather information about stocks and supplies to assist the registered nurse to plan sterilising work.
  • Perform and report on procedures as delegated by the registered nurse.

Contribute to the maintenance of a safe practice – infection control and sterilisation measures.

Requirements:

  • Qualification for Central Sterilising Department: Applicant must hold Certificate III in Sterilisation Services from an approved training organisation based on nationally accredited competencies or equivalent.
  • Shift workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
