Schools Officer - Grounds and Facilities

About the Role:

The successful applicant will support the daily operation, presentation and maintenance of the school through a broad range of grounds, facilities, security and operational duties.

Your responsibilities include, but not limted to: 

  • Maintaining school grounds, gardens, ovals and outdoor sporting facilities to a high standard
  • Undertaking general repairs, maintenance and improvement works across the school
  • Assisting with security duties including locking and unlocking buildings, maintaining security systems and banking procedures
  • Coordinating and/or arranging repairs and maintenance with tradespeople and contractors
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including safe storage and handling of chemicals, fuels and equipment
  • Maintaining tools, equipment and maintenance records
  • Supporting school operations through furniture movement, set-up of events and assembly spaces, mail delivery, stock control and general stores duties
  • Managing waste collection, gutter and drain clearing and urgent cleaning duties when required
  • Ordering and collecting approved grounds care and cleaning supplies
  • Maintaining accurate registers, stocktake records and asset management processes
  • Supporting a safe, organised and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors

We are looking for someone who:

  • Demonstrates strong initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Has experience in grounds, facilities or maintenance work
  • Works collaboratively and builds positive working relationships
  • Has sound computer and organisational skills
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards across facilities and grounds
  • Understands workplace health and safety requirements and safe work practices
  • Can manage competing priorities and work independently when required
  • Is flexible, dependable and committed to supporting the broader school community

Progressional roles show a salary range spanning two classifications. Appointment will be made at the level appropriate to skill and fulfilment of required criteria.
