Help protect the Great Barrier Reef by strengthening the financial and procurement foundations that keep Reef programs delivering. The Office of the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage (OGBRWH) is looking for a Senior Project Officer (Finance and Procurement) to lead program-level budgeting, forecasting and reporting and coordinate procurement activities that support high‑priority work across the organisation.
Your contribution
In this role, you'll take the lead in supporting how financial and procurement activities are planned, delivered and improved across the program. You'll work across budgeting, forecasting and reporting, helping the team understand performance, identify risks and make informed decisions. A key part of the role is translating complex financial information into clear, practical advice that supports senior leaders and project teams.
You'll also play a central role in coordinating procurement activities—from managing medium- to high-value processes to supporting day-to-day purchasing and payments—ensuring everything is delivered efficiently and in line with public sector requirements. Along the way, you'll look for opportunities to improve how we work, developing tools, templates and processes that strengthen financial management and make it easier for teams to deliver.
Success in this role will rely on your ability to build strong working relationships and stay on top of competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, while proactively identifying and responding to emerging financial and operational issues.
About you
You'll bring strong public sector finance and procurement capability, a sharp eye for detail, and confidence working at pace. You'll be comfortable translating complex data into clear advice and you'll enjoy creating templates and tools that lift team capability. Experience with financial and business systems (e.g. SAP) and strong written communication skills will be highly regarded.
Applications to remain current for 12 months.
