Your role within Major Projects will support the department to partner with Queensland Government agencies to deliver their core services, by providing statewide planning, building, maintenance, and disaster response services that utilise local suppliers and QBuild tradespeople and apprentices. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us.
Major Projects Delivery is a business unit within Public Works Division and is responsible for facilitating the delivery of high risk and high value capital works projects on behalf of the Queensland Government.

As Project Finance Manager you will play an integral role in the successful delivery of complex projects by ensuring financial information is soundly managed, efficiently and accurately reported, and appropriate timely advice is provided to decision makers, stakeholders and project delivery professionals.
You will apply your superior knowledge, expertise and financial skills in construction project management, leading the project finance team in compiling, evaluating and reporting quality budget forecasts and related financial performance reports in collaboration with project management professionals, specialist advisors, consultants and stakeholders.
What you will be doing:
• Lead and develop the finance team (workforce planning, resource allocation, prioritisation, performance, capability uplift, and a continuous-improvement culture).
• Own end-to-end project financial management (budgets, planning, forecasting, monitoring, analysis, reporting, debtors, contract payments, cost recovery, and governance) to enable successful delivery.
• Ensure integrity of project accounting records, financial data, and systems, maintaining compliance with standards, legislation, policy, audit requirements, contracts, and governance obligations.
• Monitor and control budgets and expenditure, proactively identifying variances, risks, and mitigation actions to support sound decisions and outcomes.
• Deliver high-quality financial performance reporting and insights for executives, boards, clients, and whole-of-government requirements (accurate, transparent, and aligned to objectives).
• Provide strategic financial advice to the Executive Director and project leadership on assessments, governance, risk, funding strategies, and commercial considerations.
• Partner with the Project Director Finance, project teams, clients, and key stakeholders to secure funding arrangements, approvals, and project-specific financial information and outcomes.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships through clear communication and collaboration, providing timely, accurate financial insights to support decisions and project success.
• Provide expert technical advice on complex financial matters and lead negotiations with internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
• Identify and implement technology and system improvements that strengthen financial management, reporting, and organisational performance.
