The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Refrigeration Air Conditioning Technician to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Ensure all work is carried out in a manner providing the safety of patients, visitors and staff
  • Carry out work requests for corrective and preventative maintenance as per work instructions
  • Liaise with customers to understand corrective and preventative maintenance repair requirements
  • Participate in personal training and development and the training of apprentices

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • The possession of a recognised Australian trade qualification - Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (or equivalent) is a requirement for this role.
  • The successful applicant will be required to possess an Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) Handling Licence.
  • The successful applicant will be required to possess a Restricted Electrical Licence, as a minimum.
  • This position is required to provide 24-hour maintenance service by participating in on-call roster as required
  • Driver Licence
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary from $90 332 per annum
  • The following allowances may be applicable for those employed under the BEMS certified agreement (No.8):
    • Skill infrastructure delivery and maintenance allowance - $45 per fortnight
    • Tool allowance - $31.92 per week
    • Note allowances will most likely increase after the new EA is agreed and implemented

About Us

Maintenance sits within the service line of Asset Management Services within People and Operations and comprises of a Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Coordinators, Administrative staff, Trade Coordinators and approximately twenty trade staff including Apprentices. Included in the trades are Electricians, Plumbers, Fitters, Painters, Carpenters, Refrigeration Technicians and Gardeners.

Maintenance is responsible for statutory, preventative and reactive maintenance across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. Maintenance Services includes but is not limited to: electrical work, fire systems, water cooling, plumbing, heating ventilation and air conditioning, bed maintenance, backup power and garden maintenance.
