About the Role
The School Based Youth Health Nurse Service aims to promote positive health outcomes for young people and their families through the provision of a primary health care service centred around the principles of early intervention, assessment and harm minimisation and prevention. The service provides, the opportunity for young people, their parents/ carers, and members of the school community to access a health professional in the school setting for matters relating to the health and well-being of young people.
Nurses provide individual health consultations to support the health literacy and help seeking behaviours of young people. The service is delivered in partnership with the Department of Education to state secondary school students, with Nurses supporting school communities to adopt a whole of school approach utilising the health promoting school's framework to address contemporary health and social issues facing young people and their families to help young people make a safe and healthy transition into adulthood.
