About us:

Babinda is a small, welcoming rural township located about 60 km south of Cairns in Far North Queensland. Nestled between the rainforest-covered mountains and the Great Barrier Reef coastline, it offers a relaxed lifestyle surrounded by natural beauty. Babinda is rich in lush greenery, waterfalls, and scenic walking tracks, including the popular Babinda Boulders. The area is ideal for those who enjoy outdoor living, with opportunities for swimming, hiking, and exploring tropical landscapes.

The community is close-knit and friendly, offering a strong sense of belonging and connection. Essential services such as schools, shops, and healthcare facilities are available locally, while larger centres like Innisfail and Cairns are within easy driving distance for additional amenities.

For professionals in healthcare, Babinda provides the chance to build meaningful relationships with patients and the community while enjoying a slower-paced, affordable, and family-friendly lifestyle.

Babinda MPHS is a small rural hospital and primary healthcare facility within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS), providing 24/7 care to the Babinda community and surrounding areas. The service delivers a broad range of integrated healthcare, including emergency care, inpatient services, primary health care, and community health programs.

With inpatient ward capacity and co-located services such as aged care and general practice, the facility provides holistic, patient-centred care across the lifespan, while working closely with larger hospitals like Cairns Hospital for more complex clinical needs.
