As a Scientist within the Core Laboratory, you will contribute to the delivery of effective, efficient and reliable pathology services while working in a collaborative and supportive laboratory environment. This is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave for up to 12 months.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and adaptable Scientist who enjoys variety in their role. You will rotate across all sections of the core laboratory following appropriate training and operational requirements, developing broad technical capability and valuable experience across multiple pathology disciplines. Working within a continuous shift environment, you will apply your scientific knowledge, attention to detail and commitment to quality to help ensure timely and accurate pathology results for clinicians and patients alike.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Relevant knowledge, skill and expertise, at a minimum, obtained through relevant tertiary education, but increasing commensurate with experience.
- Knowledge and skills, or ability to acquire knowledge and skill, of the operational requirements of a molecular diagnostic unit, microbiology discipline and core laboratory skills (Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Transfusion Medicine) and ability to perform relevant methods and procedures in each or any of these.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member, to produce an effective work output in terms of quality and quantity.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, client focus and ability to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to comply with organisational policies and procedures, and assist the laboratory to comply with all relevant legislative, administrative, and professional standards including meeting NATA / ISO / TGA accreditation / certification requirements.
