About us:
The Cairns Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Mental Health Service is being established to improve access to specialist mental health care and support for people with neurodevelopmental disorders, developmental disorders and congenital intellectual disability who access Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.
As a new and expanding specialist service, the team will deliver integrated, evidence-based and person-centred care that promotes recovery, wellbeing and quality of life for consumers with complex needs. Operating within a consultation-liaison and outreach model, the service will work in partnership with hospital and community-based teams across Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, while also supporting outreach functions to Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service. The team will focus on building strong collaborative relationships and delivering responsive, contemporary care that reflects the needs of the communities it serves.

About your role:
- Deliver high level Allied Health services which include assessment, treatment, education and evidence-based interventions in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
- Apply professional judgement to a complex and varied caseload working to full scope for intellectual and developmental disability health consumers with complex medical and social issues, adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence in line with health service policies.
- Identify, initiate and lead the implementation and evaluation of quality improvement activities that enhance service delivery, support the continuum of care and where possible, contribute to the development of evidence-based approaches within Allied Health.
