About us:

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high- level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane. 

Innisfail Hospital services include emergency department, general medical and surgical, low risk maternity, chemotherapy, and renal dialysis. Innisfail Hospital has 49 inpatient beds and 7 emergency department treatment spaces. The hospital serves a population of over 8000 people and is 1.5 hours' drive from Cairns. The Innisfail region is renowned for spectacular waterfalls, fishing, Mission Beach, the Family Islands, and World Heritage rainforest.
 
The Emergency Department (ED) at Innisfail Hospital is a busy rural service providing urgent and high-quality care to a diverse community. It offers a broad scope of clinical experience, managing everything from acute medical conditions to trauma and paediatric presentations. The ED is known for its strong team culture, where nurses work collaboratively with medical and allied health staff to deliver safe, patient-centred care in a supportive and community-focused environment.

About your role:
  • Work closely with medical officers, allied health, and retrieval services to ensure coordinated, safe patient care.
  • Deliver compassionate care, provide education, and support patients and their families during stressful situations.
  • Stabilise critically ill or injured patients and assist with transfers to higher-level facilities when required.
