The Nurse Practitioner, within credentialed scope of practice provides nursing leadership, clinical governance, case management and complex clinical care and support for patients within Prison and Youth Detention Health Services (PYDHS), West Moreton Health for the Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST) Program.

The role will provide leadership in clinical decision making to support and facilitate safe and efficient OST provision to prisoners who are the recipients of healthcare services. The role includes the key co-ordination functions of complex evidence-based care delivery across a continuum and education provision for patients and staff.

What we're looking for

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated contemporary advanced practice, expert clinical skills and knowledge in credentialed scope of practice and leadership capability enabling the delivery and support of high quality patient focused care in Addiction/Alcohol and other Drugs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to apply specialised knowledge of contemporary advanced nursing practice and theory in credentialed scope of practice and to participate directly and indirectly in the delivery of clinical care.
  • Demonstrates the ability to build and maintain strong relationships, open communication and a positive environment within and across the multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
  • Applies knowledge of quality improvement frameworks and associated quality processes including the integration of contemporary nursing research to all clinical activities.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra). Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • Ability to meet credentialing requirements of WMH is mandatory for this
