Merrimac State School are seeking Expressions of Interest for a Deputy Principal (Prep to Year 2) vacancy.

This is a temporary full-time position for Term 3, to commence from 13 July 2026 until 18 September 2026, unless otherwise determined.

We are looking for a leader who values strong relationships, thrives in team-based decision making and is committed to building the capability of staff to ensure every student achieves success.

This is a temporary full-time position for Term 3.  This vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.

Merrimac State School is a state primary school located on the Queensland Gold Coast between Broadbeach and the Hinterland

About the Role

As the Deputy Principal, will provide strategic and instructional leadership across the school, with a strong focus on:

  • Leading high quality early years pedagogy and ensuring continuity of practice across Prep to Year * Using student data to tailor curriculum and improve learning outcomes for every child
  • Strengthening differentiated learning pathways to improve LOA A/B data
  • Building teacher capability
  • Developing and leading an Early Years Cluster in partnership with local Early Childhood Centres and community stakeholders
  • Creating strong transition-to-school opportunities for preschool children and families
  • Fostering authentic partnerships with families, community organisations and external stakeholders
  • Contributing to a positive culture of collaboration, consistency and high expectations across the school
