About the work unit / facility
The Operating Theatre at Townsville University Hospital is a high-functioning, multi-specialty service comprising 15 theatres, including a state-of-the-art Hybrid Theatre. The department supports a broad range of complex surgical specialties, including cardiac, neurosurgery, vascular, thoracic, orthopaedics, trauma, and transplant services, alongside paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, and more.
The Anaesthetic team plays a vital role across the hospital, providing specialist support not only within theatres but also to key outlying areas such as Medical Imaging, Endoscopy, Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Brachytherapy and Mental Health. This dynamic and collaborative environment offers exposure to diverse and advanced clinical practice.

About your opportunity
This role offers an opportunity for an experienced Anaesthetic Registered Nurse to join a dynamic and high-performing Operating Theatre team, supporting a broad range of complex and diverse surgical services.
In this role, you will provide direct patient care, applying your clinical expertise to support patients, anaesthetists and the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality care. You will work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, contributing to best practice anaesthetic care across a wide variety of procedures.
The position provides exposure to complex clinical cases and ongoing opportunities to strengthen and expand your specialist anaesthetic nursing skills.
A mixture of 10, 9 and 6 hour shifts are rostered to ensure coverage across all theatre lists. Participation in continuous shift work and the on-call roster is a mandatory requirement.
