Your new role

Reporting to the Health Service Chief Executive, the Chief Operating Officer plays a critical role in driving organisational performance, operational excellence and service innovation across Metro South Health.

You will provide strategic leadership to Executive Directors and senior leaders, ensuring services achieve and exceed key safety, quality, financial and operational outcomes across one of Queensland's largest and most complex health services.

Working collaboratively with clinical and corporate leaders, you will:

  • Lead large-scale operational and strategic service delivery initiatives
  • Oversee a workforce of more than 15,000 FTE employees and operational budgets exceeding $3.8B AUD
  • Drive performance, accountability and continuous improvement across facilities and services
  • Provide expert advice to the Health Service Chief Executive, Executive Team and Board
  • Shape sustainable and innovative healthcare delivery models
  • Foster high-performing, values-based and collaborative cultures
  • Strengthen partnerships across the health system and broader community

About you

You are a motivated professional with demonstrated success leading large and complex healthcare organisations through strategic change, operational improvement and service transformation.

You will bring:

  • Extensive executive leadership experience within a large and complex health service environment
  • Strong operational, financial and performance management capability
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary executive teams and large-scale service portfolios
  • A commitment to values-based leadership, patient safety, innovation and continuous improvement
