We’re looking for 2 dedicated individuals to work as OO5 Rangers based on K’gari (Fraser Island).
OO5 Ranger, Fire - You will be responsible for delivering enhanced operational fire management outcomes for the department.
OO5 Ranger, Operations - Reporting to Ranger in Charge, Eurong, you’ll help deliver the annual works program and lead a talented team of rangers.

TARGETED VACANCY

OO5 Ranger - Fire
This is a unique opportunity to be part of Coastal and Islands Region and to be part of the K'gari (Fraser Island) NRM Fire Management Team and be directly involved in the implementation of fire management activities on K'gari (Fraser Island).
This position is directly involved in the coordination of resources including the K'gari (Fraser Island) Fire Management Team to deliver the Region's priority across natural resource management including the delivery of the planned burn program, wildfire response and contribute to departmental strategies, policies and procedures including VBMF documents, strategies and ecological outcome documents.
This position will also provide direction and supervision to the K'gari (Fraser Island) Fire Team, other fire management personnel and assisting resources.
OO5 Ranger - Operations
The successful applicant will require the ability to communicate clearly and contribute to maintaining a positive and supportive team environment. The position will be required to oversee the work of external contractors so requires a good understanding of the department's safety, procurement and financial practices. K'gari (Fraser Island) is a high visitation area where rangers are expected to deliver a high level of visitor compliance on a regular basis that can require working over long weekends and during school holidays.
These positions are based on K'gari (Fraser Island) where rangers are required to work a 10/4 roster. K'gari is considered a remote location where rangers are required to live on island during their shift. Departmental shared accommodation will be provided for the successful applicant, however travel to other locations on the island may be required from time to time. Daily commuting on a charter air service to and from Hervey Bay may be considered for the position based at Eurong but cannot be guaranteed. Please refer to the Location and Working in Guides.
