Your new opportunity
Join Queensland Treasury's Queensland Government Insurance Fund (QGIF) as a Principal Underwriter and play a key role in managing whole-of-government insurance risk. You will provide expert advice on premiums, risk exposure and insurance strategy, while working with senior stakeholders to ensure government assets and liabilities are effectively managed. This is an opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making and influence how risk is understood and managed across agencies.
In this role, you will:
• Provide expert advice to determine agency premiums based on asset and liability analysis and risk exposure
• Deliver high level advice on insurance policy, indemnity and contractual matters across government
• Support the design and management of whole-of-government reinsurance programs
• Analyse claims trends, risk exposures and industry data to inform decision making
• Deliver authoritative advice on risk management strategies to improve property and liability outcomes
• Contribute to system, policy and training improvements to strengthen service delivery
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agencies, brokers and key stakeholders
• Prepare reports, briefings and submissions on insurance and risk issues.
What experience you will bring:
• Demonstrated experience managing a broad range of liability and property insurance products
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and practical advice
• Experience analysing complex data sets, claims trends and risk exposures to inform decision making
• Proven capability to provide high level advice on insurance, risk and indemnity matters
• Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and building effective working relationships
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify emerging risks and trends
• Experience preparing reports, submissions and briefings for senior decisionmakers.
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.
