Role details

The Work Health and Safety team at the Mackay Base Hospital  is seeking applications for a Senior Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

The purpose of the role is to provide comprehensive work related and non-work related injury and illness management for Mackay Hospital and Health Service (MHHS) staff.

As the Senior Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing tailored strategies to improve safe and sustainable return to work outcomes and reduce workplace injury, claims costs and durations.  You will have responsibility on preparing and providing reporting and analysis against rehabilitation key performance indicators and metrics, to demonstrate improvement and enable continuous improvement of rehabilitation processes, for the safety of people and sustainable business.

In this role, you will also provide advice and support to workers, senior management, and team leaders, as well as monitor trends and influence external stakeholders to minimise the impact of injury/ illness and assist the prompt, safe and sustainable return to work.

About the Team

The Work Health and Safety Unit provides work health and safety advisory, support, investigation, rehabilitation and return to work support, audits, and assessment services to MHHS service groups, business units and facilities across Mackay Hospital and Health Service.  The Work Health and Safety Unit is within People and Culture Division supporting safety and wellbeing initiatives.

Our focus is in reducing injuries in the workplace and working closely with our stakeholders to ensure safe and sustainable return to work for employees, in accordance with the Recovery in Workplace philosophy.  In addition to managing worker related injuries, the Work Health and Safety Team facilitates the return to work for non-work related injury/illnesses.

Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
