Our Gladstone Hospital is a 108-bed regional hospital delivering a wide range of emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and specialist services, including medicine, surgery, cancer care, maternity, paediatrics, renal dialysis, and high dependency care. Ongoing investments, including upgrades to the West Wing, continue to enhance services for women, children, and surgical patients.

With approximately 400 dedicated staff, the hospital provides high-quality care across acute, community, and primary health settings. Supported by allied health, mental health, pharmacy, oral health, and outreach services, Gladstone Hospital plays a vital role in delivering accessible, patient-centred healthcare to the Gladstone region and surrounding communities.

About the role:

What your day will look like:

  • Being the friendly first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, delivering exceptional customer service and professional support across the Pharmacy department.
  • Keeping the department running smoothly through a variety of administrative tasks, including correspondence, data entry, document preparation, records management, minute taking, and reception duties.
  • Reviewing and validating prescriptions and hospital requisitions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organisational policies and procedures before processing.
  • Supporting pharmacy operations through stock management activities, including receipting, monitoring expiry dates, and coordinating orders through the S4HANA system.
  • Managing important financial processes such as cash handling, invoice processing, PBS reimbursement claims, reporting, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial and patient safety records.

About you:

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Strong administrative and computer skills, with proven experience using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and information systems while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally, tactfully, and confidentially with staff, patients, and members of the public.
  • A collaborative team player who can adapt to changing priorities and contribute positively in a busy healthcare environment.
  • Well-developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Experience in reporting, data analysis, cash handling, and EFTPOS transactions, supported by a strong understanding of confidentiality and sensitive information management.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $100,585 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $39.98 - $44.46 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
