About the Hearing Health Team:

Hearing Health Team provides hearing health screening, plus health education, to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged 4 to 18 years with a focus on Preschool, Grades 1, 2, 3 and Grade 6. Screening occurs at locations within the immediate Townsville area and provides professional support services throughout the whole of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $101,511 to $119,674 p.a. (HWF4)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

About your opportunity:

  • Provide a range of hearing health services (working within a delegated Model of Care) to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children within the service area.
  • To participate in the delivery of culturally effective services consistent with core business with a specific focus on hearing screening, competency-based training programs, and health education services.
  • The Senior Health Worker operationally manages the Health Worker team working in a collaborative practice model with the Clinical Nurse.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted, including Blue Card Checks.
