Charters Towers Health Service is a 25-bed facility providing integrated acute and primary health care services through a range of programs including: community, child, youth and family, mental health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and outreach services.

Charters Towers is one of the most beautiful inland cities in Queensland, with its unrivalled architecture and unique history. Discover this enchanting outback town which is just an hour and a half west of Townsville.  

About your opportunity

The role of the Staff Specialist Geriatrician Interim Bed Unit (IBU) is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the 10 patients that are supported in maintenance beds at Eventide Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) within Townsville Hospital Health Service (THHS). The successful applicant would provide ongoing support in the provision of an effective, efficient and equitable Geriatric Medicine service within, especially focussing on the ongoing transition into a Residential Aged Care Facility as they become available.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $103.80 to $131.61 p.h. (L18-L27)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
  • Add in about flexible working arrangements if applicable to role or hiring manager

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • Qualified as a specialist medical practitioner and current registration with or eligible for current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians:
    • Geriatricians preferred
    • General Medicine applicants highly desirable along with experience in palliative care.
  • Experience in provision of rural and remote care including Telehealth is highly desirable.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.
