We're seeking a motivated Library Technician with strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a client-focused environment.

Join the Document Delivery team at State Library and help deliver responsive document supply, resource sharing services for clients, libraries and communities across Queensland and beyond.

You'll work with physical and digital collections to support access, discovery and delivery.

Experience with library management systems, document delivery systems or collection services will be highly regarded.

Applicants must hold an ALIA-accredited Library Technician qualification and be eligible for ALIA technical membership.

As a member of the Access and Discovery, Document Delivery team, you will contribute to improving access, delivery and discovery of State Library collections for clients and staff. This role focuses on supporting document delivery, interlibrary loans, image reproduction, public lending and collection access services.

Key responsibilities include

  • Delivering high-quality document delivery, interlibrary loan, image reproduction and lending services in line with local, national and international standards.
  • Maintaining accurate records, including request management, copyright declarations and service statistics, while providing responsive client communication.
  • Ensuring requests are supplied in accordance with copyright legislation, licensing or donor agreements, and Creative Commons provisions.
  • Assisting libraries and clients to access and request State Library collections and resources.
  • Supporting the timely processing and delivery of image reproduction requests and workflows.

Qualifications Technical/educational
To be considered for this role you are required to hold an Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) accredited Library Technician qualification and be eligible for technical membership to ALIA.

Operational experience

  • For roles supporting document delivery services, knowledge of copyright as they apply to document supply and inter library loans, specifically regarding the reproduction of collection materials, is desirable.
  • For roles supporting library management systems and discovery tools, technical experience with library management systems (LMS) and discovery platforms is desirable.
