In the role of Advisor (Project Controls), you will lead a team that is critical to supporting the development and delivery of the district's Queensland Transport and Roads Infrastructure Program (QTRIP) and the district's Stewardship and Capability. You will provide support to Project Managers, the Principal Advisor (Program Performance) and district staff by ensuring effective controls processes are embedded in the delivery areas and ensuring the quality of the information entered into the systems. You will do this by leading and guiding the team that is responsible for development of budgets, accounts payable including contract progress claims, accounts receivable, asset management, project scheduling, monitoring the projects financial performance and undertaking end of month and end of year processes. This position will be required to provide leadership to discipline group and team members.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Provide functional leadership and support to Project Controls and Finance team members as well as on-the-job training to ensure appropriate skill sets and training needs are identified and developed.
• Ensure that controls processes are embedded and applied consistently within the district.
• Monitoring financial performance, including end-of-the-month reporting, variance analysis and monitoring financial performance against forecasts.
• Ensure programs, projects and contracts have the required approvals before commencing delivery and that budget, time and scope change requests are processed in accordance with the respective business rules. Ensure successful business outcomes through effective resource utilisation, performance monitoring, analysis and reporting.
• Provide effective project management assistance including scheduling, project control and finance to project staff to ensure tasks are completed within specified deadlines and to agreed standards.
• Undertake a range of program and project tasks aimed at improving the development and delivery of the district's QTRIP initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act, associated Regulations, and relevant Departmental Policies to maintain a safe and healthy working environment for all employees and stakeholders.
