What your day could look like
As a Social Work Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping patients and families access the support they need during challenging times. You'll work alongside experienced social workers, contributing to care that's practical, compassionate and coordinated across the hospital and community.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Helping patients and families navigate services, easing stress and improving their care journey
- Supporting social workers with assessments and care coordination that lead to timely, practical outcomes
- Connecting people with community, financial and accommodation supports to reduce barriers to care
- Contributing to a collaborative team environment, sharing insights that strengthen patient-focused care
Let's Talk About You
You're someone who leads with compassion and brings integrity to every interaction. You're practical, organised and confident working with guidance, and you understand how small actions can make a big difference to someone's experience in care. You take pride in supporting people through complex situations, helping them feel heard, informed and supported. You're here to make a real contribution—improving access, easing pressure, and strengthening outcomes for patients and families.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- Experience supporting people in health, community or human services environments
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks and priorities independently
- A proactive, respectful approach with clear understanding of professional boundaries
You'll stand out from the crowd if you have a qualification in community services and/or experience working with vulnerable populations.
Above all, you'll bring compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage—helping create a positive healthcare experience for every patient you support.
