EOI - Community Education Counsellor (Identified) - Laidley District State School

Laidley District State School is seeking an experienced Community Education Counsellor to join our school community, supporting students, families and the wider school community to strengthen cultural connections and improve educational outcomes.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and relationship-building skills, a collaborative approach, and the ability to work effectively with students, families and staff. A results-focused mindset, personal drive, integrity and a strong commitment to supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to succeed will be highly valued.
This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.8 FTE), 58 hours per fortnight. This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest, and any extension to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.

About the Role:
- Provide educational counselling and support services within schools to ensure that the best possible assistance services are available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, students, families and communities.
- Provide cross cultural awareness training to the broader school community
Responsibilities:
- Provide educational counselling and support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students across multiple schools.
- Develop and deliver programs that encourage student engagement, participation and educational success.
- Support and strengthen partnerships with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families, communities and external support services.
- Promote understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures, perspectives and protocols within the school community.
- Provide cultural advice and guidance to school leaders and staff.
- Support the effective use of programs and resources that enhance outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.
- Build positive relationships and partnerships between schools, families and community stakeholders.
