The role:
Reporting to the Director, Project Support; the Manager Planning & Scheduling will provide planning & scheduling expertise and undertake both strategic and tactical planning activities to enable the successful delivery of large scale and complex ICT projects and programs. The role will lead a team of Planner & Schedulers and track and monitor progress against the delivery portfolio to enable delivery confidence insights.

- Identify and implement improvements to portfolio planning and estimation processes to improve delivery confidence and provide inputs into capacity and workforce planning.
- Own, maintain and continuously improve the delivery portfolio, program and project product-based planning framework and training collateral to improve individual capability and organisational maturity.
- Maintain and continuously improve the delivery portfolio, program and project scheduling standards and templates in accordance with endorsed eHealth Queensland Project Delivery Lifecycle.
- Inform portfolio insights, by developing and implementing a structured approach to identify, assess and manage cross project dependencies, including resource and output dependencies for Delivery Services Branch.
- Lead the establishment and management of a portfolio master schedule to identify resource and output dependencies between programs and projects and recommend areas for improvement.
- Forward plan and manage the planning and scheduling team workload and capacity with key stakeholders in the provision of a cost recovered facilitated planning and scheduling service.
- Lead, coach and mentor a strong and capable team of planning and scheduling specialists to best support an expanding delivery portfolio of ICT programs, projects, and other work.
- Contract owner and manager for the project portfolio management planning solution.
- Apply effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to interact individually and in groups with internal and external customers.
Are you right for this role?
To be successful in this role you will meet the following assessment criteria:
- Demonstrated experience managing a facilitated planning service within a large complex ICT portfolio, program and project environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of planning and dependency frameworks across multiple complex business areas.
- Proven high level negotiation, consultation, facilitation, and effective written and oral communication skills for use in a complex ICT program/project delivery support environment.
- Demonstrated analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills and the provision of high-quality, trusted and accurate advice, analysis and insights as they relate to portfolio balancing, and workforce capacity and levelling.
- Proven record of success in leading and growing teams and strategic capability in large and complex public organisation or similar
- Experience in managing an ICT service delivery team involving resource estimation and cost recovery of placed resources.
