Working within the Prison Mental Health Service, you will provide clinical care and case management to support positive mental health outcomes, while collaborating with correctional staff, healthcare professionals, and community support services to deliver holistic, recovery-focused care.

About us:

Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (CQMHAODS) delivers specialist mental health, alcohol and other drug services to more than 250,000 people across Central Queensland, including Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone, Biloela, Moura, Woorabinda, the Central Highlands and the Central West Hospital and Health Service region. As the hub of the service, Rockhampton provides clinical leadership, specialist support, Mental Health Act administration, and acute inpatient care, with the Mental Health Inpatient Unit, Older Persons Inpatient Unit and Acute Care Team based at Rockhampton Hospital.

About the role:

  • Deliver specialist mental health assessment, treatment and recovery-focused care to people in custody experiencing complex mental health needs.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, providing comprehensive case management, care coordination and support throughout incarceration and transition back into the community.
  • Work as a valued member of a multidisciplinary forensic mental health team, contributing to improved clinical outcomes and consumer wellbeing.
  • Build strong partnerships with Queensland Corrective Services, forensic mental health services, healthcare providers and community agencies to ensure seamless, collaborative care.
  • Play a vital role in reducing mental health risks, supporting recovery, and improving access to ongoing care for one of the most vulnerable and complex consumer groups in the health system.

About you:

  • While not mandatory, eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be highly desirable.
  • Hold qualifications and registration with the appropriate registration authority to practice in any of the following:
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Psychology
    • Social Work
    • Registered Nurse

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $139,252 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $57.48 - $61.55 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
