As the Product Release Manager, you will:
• The purpose of the role is to plan, coordinate and administer the release management activities which occur across the Solutions managed by QSS.
• Measure and monitor progress to ensure solution releases are delivered on time, within budget, meet stakeholder expectations and provide value for money to customers.
• Coordinate release content and effort based on the change request backlog, pending change requests, third party applications or infrastructure changes.
• Facilitate all release activities including the analysis of Change and Release impacts to determine release scope, Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, Stand ups and Business Go/No Go reviews.

  • Communicates the management, evaluation, resolution and/or escalation of risks that affect release scope, schedule and quality.
  • Facilitates the preparation for all release activities from initiation, and communication of the release plans, inter-team coordination, scope approval/changes and training/information forums.
  • Participate in Change and Release Board (CaRB) meetings to discuss release scope, gates, implementation and/or roadblocks.
  • Lead and coordinate Go-Live activities including the development and execution of cutover plans and checklists monitoring their effectiveness to improve the quality of the release process.
  • Support the planning of release windows and cycles across a portfolio for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the Release Management policy, process and standards to ensure the organisation adheres to industry best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Govern release activities effectively in an environment that integrates Agile, DevOps, and ITIL frameworks.
  • Build team capabilities to improve performance and meet current and future demands through effective leadership, coaching, implementation of professional development and knowledge transfer strategies, and documentation and adherence to processes and procedures.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrate your experience and extensive release management knowledge to provide direction for the integrity, control and effective support of system releases including the practical application of Standards, Methodologies and Frameworks based in Release, Control and Validation.
  • Provide advice that is rigorously considered and underpinned by clear rationale to assist with the analysis and solutions required to support timely decisions and promote improved work practices.
  • Organise the team to deliver the required program of work providing clear and accurate reporting of progress and performance.
  • Actively seek feedback modifying your approach to enhance your leadership effectiveness whilst demonstrating your commitment to your own (and continuous) development through a variety of development processes including self-reflection.
  • Model ethical behaviours consistently applying those ethical standards to self and other in accordance with the Qld Public service legislation framework and Code of Conduct.
  • Can demonstrate clear and concise verbal and written communication, working collaboratively with others settling disputes equitably by finding common ground and gaining cooperation.
  • Build a cohesive and supportive team environment motivating individuals by providing a balance of autonomy and supported by regular reviews of performance via timely and frank discussions with all team members.

  • ITIL Foundation, and Release, Control and Validation Qualification
  • Agile Release Management
  • S/4 HANA Public Cloud Platform
  • This role will require on call and out of hours work to be undertaken.
