Pittsworth State High School is seeking a full time Agricultural Assistant to work as part of a dynamic team. The position of Agricultural Assistant plays a vital role in the day to day operation of the Agricultural Science Department. Working as part of a team, the role works with both staff and students to maximise educational outcomes. The role provides a high level of agricultural systems to support school staff and students, ensuring that field sites, animals, crops, machinery and equipment used by the school are maintained in a functional, secure and safe manner.

About our School:

Pittsworth State High School is a rural co-educational secondary school located in the town of Pittsworth on the Darling Downs, west of Toowoomba. About the Role:

  • Contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the school by providing a high level of agricultural systems support to the nominated school staff.
  • Ensure that the agricultural field study sites, animals, crops, machinery and equipment used by the school are maintained in a functional, secure and safe manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain agricultural facilities, equipment, and field sites.
  • Plant, care for, and monitor crops and gardens.
  • Feed and care for animals, including cleaning enclosures.
  • Apply fertilisers, insecticides, and other agricultural treatments as required.
  • Maintain fences, gates, machinery, glasshouses, aquariums, and storage areas.
  • Manage agricultural supplies, chemicals, fuel stocks, deliveries, and stocktakes.
  • Record basic agricultural data and maintain stock records.
  • Support agricultural teaching activities by preparing materials and assisting practical classes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, maintenance, and first aid requirements.
