In the role of Senior Town Planner you will provide high level statutory, land-use and town planning advice in relation to transport planning undertaken by the department including the provision of specialist advice in respect to the application of the
Planning Act (2016) and Transport Infrastructure Act (1994) and other statutory instruments. Remote working is supported for this temporary position.

Accountabilities include:
• Coordinate and supervise statutory land-use and transport planning tasks for the Adjacent Land Management team including development assessment and compliance.
• Assessment of development impacts on the transport network in accordance with the Development Assessment Rules made under the Planning Act 2016 and other statutory processes including major land use planning activities.
• Assessment of applications for road access and private road works made under the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994.
• Provide high-level advice on the Planning Act 2016, the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 and other statutory instruments applicable to the Department in respect to land use and transport planning matters.
• Review proposed legislation, planning schemes, major policy direction or other material and provide advice on the transport planning implications of such initiatives.
• Develop and maintain appropriate and effective liaison and communication with internal staff, state and local government agencies, the community and other stakeholders.
• Provide timely, high level written and oral advice on land use and town planning matters relating to the safety and efficiency of the transport network.
• Influence outcomes and represent the department on working groups, steering committees and Whole of Government meetings for both state and local governments.
• Prepare ministerial correspondence, briefs and reports for the District Director and/or district office and/or department as required.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Possession of tertiary qualifications in Town Planning from a recognised tertiary institution acceptable for corporate membership with the Planning Institute of Australia; or other relevant qualification acceptable to the Delegate Desirable
• Demonstrated high level experience in assessment of development applications and applications for access
