As part of the Native Title and Resources Team, you will provide expert legal advice and representation on matters relating to native title, cultural heritage, and resources law. This includes advising on the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth), particularly in relation to public infrastructure projects, Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs), mining and resources projects, and associated agreements and applications. You will also provide guidance on the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 (Qld), the Torres Strait Islander Cultural Heritage Act 2003 (Qld), and the Human Rights Act 2019 (Qld), including drafting and negotiating cultural heritage agreements and management plans. Additionally, you will represent the State in Federal Court proceedings, National Native Title Tribunal matters, and Land Court proceedings, including those involving native title determinations, compensation claims, consent determinations, contested hearings, and appeals.
