Your Opportunity

We have a Permanent full-time Cleaner position available to join our Operations team at TAFE Queensland’s Acacia Ridge campus. Please note that this advertisement will also establish a talent pool for future employment opportunities as they become available.

As the Cleaner you will be responsible for meeting the daily cleaning requirements of the Region to ensure a clean and hygienic environment is provided to students, staff and the general public.

These positions report to the relevant Operations supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake cleaning duties in accordance with cleaning schedules within classrooms, administration offices, workshops, and toilets.
  • Maintain a sound understanding and working knowledge of health and safety legislation, processes and principles, ensuring that:
    • all work is performed safely and in a manner compliant with applicable legislation; and
    • all cleaning materials, hazardous substances and equipment are securely stored and maintained in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Operations team, including attendance and contribution at team meetings and assisting with any other relevant duties, as required.
  • Contribute to the success of cultural change within the organisation through promoting and modelling SkillsTech’s core values and Agreed Behaviours and the established TAFE Queensland values of Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility, Showing Initiative, and Safety First. 

How you will be assessed

Within the context of the role description above, the ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  1. Demonstrated ability to work within a team, make decisions, solve problems, and meet deadlines as required.
  2. Demonstrated experience and ability in performing duties of a cleaning nature in a multi-functional organisation, including knowledge of contemporary cleaning practices.
  3. Knowledge of, and adherence to, safe work practices and a sound understanding of health and safety practices.
  4. Ability to undertake cleaning responsibilities with minimum supervision.

Highly Desirable

  • Previous experience in a cleaning position; and/or
  • Possession of relevant qualifications.
