The new SMHRU unit offers mental health rehabilitation services for individuals needing extended inpatient care in a secure environment. Our focus is on autonomy, self-determination, and working collaboratively towards independent living. All consumers are over 18 years of age.

About Your New Role

Are you looking for a role with real meaning and purpose? Gold Coast Health have an exciting opportunity for several experienced Registered Nurse - Identified (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) to join our newly developed Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit and make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the provision of an effective and efficient communication to ensure culturally safe care and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inpatients
  • Undertake holistic mental health consumer care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Ensure effective record keeping and follow documentation practice standards with support from a multidisciplinary team
  • Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team professional development activities

Qualifications

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community
  • A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • NMBA Registration
  • Driver Licence
  • Credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or willing to work towards it)
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time, permanent part time
  • Base salary ranging from $87 368 - $112 064 per annum or $44.06 - $56.51 per hour
