About the role
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support recovery-oriented care. The role involves engaging with consumers and carers, providing advocacy and practical support, and contributing lived experience insights to care planning and service delivery. You will also support education and promote person-centred, trauma-informed practice, while working with internal teams and external partners to enhance outcomes.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Connect with people admitted to MH HITH, and/or families, carers and staff providing a positive example of recovery, sharing personal experience (when appropriate) of managing mental health challenges and broader positive strategies for mental health recovery and wellbeing.
- Utilise well-developed communication and consultation skills to work collaboratively with the MH HITH multidisciplinary team to promote the function of the ACPW and the MNMH Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce team.
- Demonstrate an ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, complementing existing services to assist people admitted to MH HITH on their recovery journey.
- Utilise lived experience, skills and knowledge in planning, facilitating and evaluating lived experience education, support and provide a responsive framework of education that meets the needs of people admitted to MH HITH and/or families, carers and staff.
