Your role:
As Manager Crown Intellectual Property (IP), you will support Crown IP administration across government. You will develop and provide IP policies, policyrelated initiatives and other guidance and support to government agencies. Your work will assist the Queensland Government manage Crown IP consistently and effectively aligned to the wider social, environmental and economic goals of the state.
Your responsibilities:
As the Manager responsible for Crown IP administration across government, you will:
• Deliver IP policy support to agencies, to enable them to manage Crown IP as a core responsibility, promote consistency and maturity and form a Crown IP community of practice to maximise benefits for government, including innovation in government.
• Facilitate the development and delivery of a program of high quality, whole-ofgovernment Crown IP-related projects supporting Crown IP administration and policy development, modernising IP training and conducting IP audits as required.
• Review and implement IP commercialisation assistance and education across government, including researching rewards mechanisms and best practice approaches, in consultation with the Public Service Commission and agencies with IP with commercialisation potential.
• Apply robust contract management to the remuneration agreements with copyright collecting societies managed by CDSB on behalf of the State.
• Provide strategic advice and analysis of IP policy and legislation in Queensland, contribute to related submissions to state and federal government bodies, consult across government and interjurisdictionally on IP issues relevant to Queensland and provide input for external (notably Australian Government) consultation processes.
• Provide high quality policy advice on IP related matters, prepare high level written correspondence, submissions, briefing notes, and ministerial responses as required and mentor staff in preparing IP correspondence and responses, working with team members to take on related challenging assignments.
• Provide leadership to colleagues in CDSB and across government to share IP information and identify opportunities to benefit Queensland and strengthen networks across government agencies and with interstate IP areas though interjurisdictional collaboration to promote best practice in Crown IP management.
