The successful candidate will assist in developing and implementing frameworks and strategies to continue the development of state-wide Molecular Haematology services based on universal best practice and reflected through uniform standards and practices. In addition to this, you will participate in a comprehensive clinical liaison service as required, and collaborate with laboratory scientific, technical and operational colleagues to ensure service excellence.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated contemporary knowledge, skills and ability in diagnostic molecular haematology,and high level of professionalism required in the position, especially objectivity.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills necessary for all aspects of the position.
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to conduct relevant training, teaching, research, investigation, analysis and management
- Knowledge of the ISO 15189 and NATA Medical Testing Requirements demonstrating continued accreditation in your clinical specialty for all laboratories across a diverse network
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Mandatory requirements are a medical qualification and tertiary qualification in Haematology (FRCPA, or equivalent) and be registerable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist Pathologist.
- The incumbent must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or equivalent.
- Experience with Molecular Genetics as applied to Haematology
- Concurrent appointment in Haematology in Pathology Queensland is desirable.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements
- It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis B and TB.
- Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).

Please note the remuneration rates are all excluding super but do include Motor Vehicle Allowance, PDA and Attraction and Retention (50% of base pay), Salary packaging options are also available to maximise income.
