About the role
As a Pharmacy Intern with Metro North Health, you will play an active role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred pharmacy services across a busy hospital environment. This position provides structured, hands-on experience across a range of clinical and operational pharmacy activities, allowing you to build confidence and capability as you transition from university to professional practice. You will work closely with experienced pharmacists and multidisciplinary teams, gaining exposure to diverse patient populations and healthcare settings.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provide a clinical pharmacy service focussing on the guidelines to achieve the principles of the continuum of quality use of medicines between hospitals and community.
- Provide patient counselling on the appropriate use of medications.
- Provide drug information to health care professionals.
- Dispense patients' prescriptions, ensuring effective and appropriate medications are provided for patients.
- Maintain and distribute pharmacy stocks in accordance with Metro North Hospital and Health Service local policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
