Ranger in Charge

A subsidised three-bedroom departmental residence is available with this position.
Rangers ensure that Queensland’s national parks, state forests and reserves are protected, accessible and valued by all Queenslanders.
This role’s focus area is leading a team of rangers responsible for the day-to-day management of parks and forests within the Carnarvon North area. Whilst the successful applicant will be involved in general operational ranger activities, priority will be given to coordinating and overseeing day-to-day management activities and strategic projects. Experience in bushfire response, planned burn operations, natural resource management, visitor management and working in remote locations is highly sought after, along with proven skills in team leadership and operational coordination.

• Builds and maintains productive relationships with stakeholders, including neighbouring landholders, other government departments, industry groups, recreational user groups and Traditional Owners.
• Actively participates in prescribed burning, fuel reduction, and bushfire management activities.
• Leads and manages a team to successfully deliver work plans, initiatives and outcomes.
• Exhibits strong organisational skills and the capacity to handle multiple tasks with precision.
• Ability to support and share skills with a diverse group of people
