About us:

The Rockhampton Hospital is the main referral hospital in Central Queensland. The Maternity Services at the Rockhampton Hospital is the main birthing hub for Central Queensland and caters for approximately 1400 births annually. It provides a level 4 maternity service including:

  • The Antenatal Clinics offers outpatients antenatal care and education.
  • The Antenatal/Postnatal 15 bed ward offers inpatient care and Maternity Assessment Unit.
  • The 5 bed Birth Suite offers care during birth and high dependency care.
  • The level 4 Special Care Nursery offers medium to high dependency care to neonates.

The Extended Midwifery Service (EMS) provides in-home postnatal care for women who reside in the Rockhampton region. There is a strong focus on interdisciplinary care planning and networking with community agencies. The EMS facilitates a smooth transition of care between Maternity and Child and Family Health Services.

About the role:

  • The clinical midwife is a Registered Midwife who provides excellence in Midwifery care and patient outcomes by providing direct Midwifery care and clinical competence and capabilities.
  • The clinical midwife optimises the perinatal journey of women and their families, enabling women centred care with enhanced access to services.
  • The Clinical Midwife works in partnerships with the wider multidisciplinary team to provide women and family centred care and support postnatal midwifery care in the community.

About you:

  • Registration as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current practicing certificate.
  • While not mandatory, it is highly desirable to have post graduate qualifications in the clinical area of expertise.
  • Demonstrate advance clinical knowledge in antenatal and postnatal care delivering expert Midwifery Care in complex situations when providing support and direction to other team members.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $29,316 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $57.48 - $61.55 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
