Field Officer

We’re looking for a proactive professional to help support Queensland’s vocational education and training (VET) system. In this role, you’ll provide advice on training programs, workforce development, and pathways like apprenticeships, traineeships and transition-to-work services. You’ll promote the value of training and skills development to employers, schools, training organisations, and community groups, while delivering activities that boost VET participation, improve job outcomes, and meet local workforce needs. Key tasks include supporting stakeholders, managing projects, and promoting DTET initiatives. As a Field Officer, you will demonstrate or quickly acquire knowledge of Queensland's vocational education and training (VET) sector, workforce development issues, and departmental programs. You will be responsible for researching, collecting, and analysing data, investigating issues, managing projects, and making sound recommendations that align with regional objectives within a corporate governance framework.
The successful applicant may be substantively based at any of the DTET Metropolitan regional office locations, including Nundah, Ipswich, or Mount Gravatt.
About the role
As the Field Officer, you will:
• Provide clear advice and support to stakeholders on Queensland's VET system, including apprenticeships and traineeships.
• Promote the benefits of training, skills development and workforce initiatives to employers, training providers, community organisations and individuals.
• Deliver and support regional training, skilling and workforce development activities that lift VET participation and completion rates and improve employment outcomes aligned to local workforce needs.
• Monitor stakeholder performance and contribute to continuous improvement through education, capacity building, issues management, conflict resolution, site visits, program promotion and interpreting program guidelines and legislation.

• The ability to demonstrate or quickly develop knowledge of Queensland's VET sector, workforce development issues and departmental programs.
• Commitment to fostering a positive, principled and equitable work environment, providing accurate, timely and high-quality advice to colleague's stakeholders and clients.
• Strong initiative and personal accountability, delivering timely and accurate outcomes while actively contributing to business unit and regional goals.
• Highly effective communication skills, verbal, written and interpersonal including consultation, negotiation, problem solving, conflict resolution public speaking and report writing.
