Senior Service Support Officer

The role of the Senior Service Support Officer is to support young people subject to a youth justice intervention who are affected by domestic and family violence as a victim, perpetrator or exposure in any way.
The Senior Service Support Officer will work collaboratively as part of the High-Risk Team comprising of government and non-government partners and coordinate service delivery between the High-Risk Team and Mount Isa Youth Justice Service Centre to ensure required actions and referrals are undertaken in a timely and efficient manner.

Mandatory requirements:
- It is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of this position to hold an unrestricted “C” Class driver's licence. Officers are required to drive government vehicles as a part of their day-to-day work.
- This role is designated as Regulated employment as the position provides support services to children and young people and therefore will require a valid Blue Card to be linked with the organisation prior to starting. - Additional pre-employment screening for this role includes serious disciplinary history disclosure, reference and qualifications check and eligibility to work in Australia.
- Citizenship/Visa: to be employed in a position, you must be an Australian citizen, have permanent residency status or a visa permitting you to work in Australia.
- While the position is based Mount Isa, travel within the region for site visits and to other regional/departmental offices may be required in this role. This may include overnight stays.
- Where possible, applicants are required to provide a referee who is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities.
As Senior Service Support Officer, you will specifically:
- Deliver best practice services to young people and contribute to the development of safety plans using sound assessment and intervention skills to deliver integrated and culturally appropriate services, including engaging with families, community organisations and other key stakeholders, in accordance with the legislative, policy and procedural requirements.
- Design, implement and review youth justice responses to domestic and family violence and strengthen protocols, tools and referral pathways with relevant agencies to ensure individuals experiencing domestic and family violence can easily access appropriate support and assistance.
- Develop reporting systems to monitor and evaluate the Domestic and Family Violence Integrated Response.
- Promote use of the domestic and family violence common assessment tool to refer young people to the High-Risk Team and commit to actions, prioritise matters and arrange for allocation of resources to ensure a rapid response to high-risk cases.
- Establish partnerships and consult with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers in a number of local areas, to achieve quality outcomes.
- Undertake a range of information management and reporting tasks including data entry, maintenance of case records, preparation of performance and trend reports and ensure all confidential information shared with partner agencies is in accordance with established protocols and legislation.
- Actively participate in training and professional development activities to develop, maintain, and enhance knowledge and competencies to ensure that service delivery is based on contemporary, evidence based, best practice principles and is consistent with current practice trends and departmental objectives. Share knowledge with the youth justice team to raise awareness of domestic and family violence as it relates to youth justice clients and integrate a domestic and family violence framework for practice.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the good governance and objectives of the directorate and department.
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
