Ayr Health Service is a 28-bed facility located in the township of Ayr, in North Queensland. The Ayr Health Service offers general medical, surgical and obstetric services to Ayr, Home Hill and the broader Burdekin Shire.

About your opportunity

The Rural and Remote Mental Health Program provides mental health and alcohol and drugs services to rural and remote communities within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service area. These services are coordinated through four community mental health teams located in Palm Island, Ingham, Burdekin and Charters Towers. This employment opportunity is located in the Burdekin Mental Health Service based at the Ayr Hospital.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $79,051 to $122,048 p.a. (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1/HP3)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration

  • Qualification: Nursing: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory. 
  • Psychology, Social Work or Occupational Therapy: A qualification from an accredited tertiary institution.
  • Highly Desirable: Possession of or working towards a relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing.
  • Ongoing professional development relevant to the delivery of specialist Mental Health Services (MHSG) to maintain appropriate registration and/or association requirements is a requirement of all staff within the MHSG.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class “C” motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required.
