About the role

This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in delivering responsive and integrated mental health care to children and young people within a community-based setting. You will work alongside a diverse team of clinicians to support young consumers presenting with complex mental health challenges, ensuring care is holistic, coordinated, and tailored to individual needs.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Psychological screening and assessments (including the use of specialised psychological measures such as self-report rating scales, personality inventories, intellectual, cognitive, and capacity assessment - g., WISC-IV, WIAT-II, ABAS) adapted to the needs of the consumer (e.g., CALD, ABI, Intellectual impairments, etc…) to assist with diagnosis, formulation, and treatment planning.
  • Targeted and timely psychosocial interventions such as psychoeducation, individual, consumer/ carer/ family-focused evidence-based therapeutic interventions (e.g., Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).
  • Use effective communication skills to work cooperatively and effectively with consumers and carers, the multidisciplinary team and the psychology professional group, hospital and health service staff including from other Hospital and Health Services, private practitioners and government and non-government support agencies.
  • Engage in inter-sectoral linking and liaison with relevant stakeholders and partners, including communication and interpretation of complex clinical information to secure the service needs of consumers.
  • Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities within the Mental Health Service that continually improve consumer care and enhance the delivery of services within a multidisciplinary team and the service.
