Principal Lawyer
Litigation; Office of Deputy Director General; Environmental Services and Regulation; Brisbane CBD
We are seeking an experienced Principal Lawyer in our Litigation Unit in the Brisbane CBD office. You will be a confident and qualified Lawyer, with strong advocacy skills, negotiation skills and the ability to influence others based on sound decision making and evidence-based reasoning.
You will have experience in the application of the legislation that governs the department, and it is advantageous if you have experience in conducting civil and criminal court proceedings.

This position requires:
• Exceptional communication skills including the ability to write clearly, succinctly and with attention to detail and be able to influence, negotiate and collaborate with a range of key stakeholders on complex legal matters.
• Detailed knowledge of environmental law, planning law, criminal law, evidence, statutory interpretation, litigation procedure and the legislation administered by the Department.
• An ability to manage highly complex individual litigation files, exercise initiative, and respond quickly and effectively to non-routine, urgent matters.
• Demonstrated management skills through, for example: mentoring other lawyers, improving practices and procedures within a team and developing effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Applications will remain current for 12 months.
